ALUMNI UPDATES
In its December 2005 issue, "The Convergence",
the official newsletter of the CCP Alumni
Association, Inc., featured three of its members.
Supt. Sofia Bayona-Mendoza decided to enter the
male-dominated field of Public Safety. Sofie, as
she is fondly called, is a graduate of BS Civil
Engineering (Class 1985) and Masters in Public
Administration (Class 2003). The challenges and
dangers posed by firefighting did not deter her
to become the first woman District Fire Marshall
for the National Capital Region. Her discipline
as an engineer and specialized training in the
field of firefighting help Sofie perform her tasks
commendably as District Fire Marshall for Fire
District III.
Architect Eric Marco Florentino, or simply Dinky to
family, friends and colleagues, is a graduate of BS
Architecture (Class 1983). Aside from being a
partner and principal architect of E F Florentino
and Associates and the President of Modular
Construction, Inc., he is also involved in various
professional organizations in the field of
architecture. He is currently the national
president of the United Architects of the
Philippines (UAP).
Fr. Louie Atanacio, a BS Architecture graduate
(Class1985), chose to enter priesthood to heed the
call to serve the Lord. Fr. Louie, as he is
popularly known, is now the parish priest of San
Antonio de Padua Parish in Marikina City.
Last October 2005, visited the United States.
During his visit there, he met with the officers
and members of the CCPAA USA Chapter. They all
gathered at the residence of George and Bebith
Wilson in Orange County, California. The evening
started off with a mass celebrated by Fr. Louie,
followed by a simple dinner and hours of exchanging
memories of their CCP (PCP) days. Although the
group regularly gathers for their monthly meetings,
they are all looking forward to another "homecoming"
soon.
