Central Colleges of the Philippines

The Central Colleges of the Philippines Mens Volleyball team won the 2005-2006 CUSA Volleyball Championship by beating St. Jude College 3-1 in game three of the Best-of-3 Finals held at the CCP Bobcats Gym last March 6, 2006. The Bobcats was leading 2 sets to none and was poised of sweeping the Crusaders but came short in the 3rd set yielding a 25-22 decision that went St. Jude's way. The 4th set was no different from the third set as both team fought points for points before the Bobcats finally came away with a 27-25 sqeeker and the Championship. It was a tough loss for the Crusaders as they finished the Elimination Round on top with an 11-0 Win-Loss card. CCP actually finished the elimination 3rd as it loss both to SJC and PMI in the Elimination Round. It's an uphill campaign for the Bobcats as they have to face PMI, who enjoys a twice to beat advantage, in the cross-over semifinals and needed to win twice, which they did, in order to advance to the best-of-3 finals. CCP under Coach Arnaldo Dino have won the CUSA Volleyball Championship 6 times (1997-98, 1998-99, 1999-00, 2000-01, 2002-03 & 2005-2006) in its 11 years of existence.
